A closed group format
Group work with shock trauma
A closed group format for people who want to work with the aftermath of deeply shaking experiences within a structured psychotherapeutic process.
Condition of participation
Participation is possible only for people who are currently in individual psychotherapy.
Group work can activate strong experiences and does not replace individual therapeutic support between sessions.
What the group is
The work includes a shared group process, psychoeducation and body-oriented interventions, according to the structure of the module and what participants are ready for.
Participants are not expected to describe their traumatic experiences in detail to the group unless they wish to.
By "shock trauma" we mean reactions that can follow an event experienced as severely threatening, sudden or overwhelming. Not every difficult experience leads to post-traumatic stress disorder.

No group is currently announced
Dates, schedule, price and facilitators are announced when a new group opens. If you are interested, write to us and we will get in touch when one is forming.
Before joining
Everyone who applies has an individual preliminary meeting with one of the facilitators. Its purpose is to judge whether the group is suitable at this point and whether the necessary individual therapeutic support is in place.
No payment is made before that meeting.
When the group may not be suitable
A group is not the right format for every situation or every moment. The facilitators may judge that another form of help suits better at present — for instance where medical or psychiatric care is needed, where the situation calls for closer individual support, or where someone is not currently in individual therapy.
That is not a judgement about the person and not a refusal for good. Returning to a later group may well be suggested.
Confidentiality
The facilitators are bound by their professional confidentiality. Participants undertake not to share information about other participants outside the group.
Body-oriented work and consent
No participant is obliged to take part in physical contact or a body-oriented intervention they do not agree to. That applies to exercises in pairs or small groups as well.
Between modules
What the group opens up can be taken further in a participant's individual therapy. The facilitators do not provide round-the-clock contact between meetings.
Attendance and withdrawal
The group is closed and its membership does not change during the programme. Attendance is part of the frame: one person's absence affects the others, so places are taken for the whole programme.
The specific rules on absence, lateness and withdrawal after the start, and what they mean financially, are set out in the terms of the particular group and discussed at the preliminary meeting.
