Therapy groups
Psychotherapy and specialised group formats at Integria.
A group offers a different kind of psychotherapeutic work from an individual session. Alongside the relationship with the therapist, the relationships between participants are part of the process — how a person connects, withdraws, takes up space, sets boundaries, responds to closeness or to conflict.
Different groups at Integria have different purposes, structures and conditions for taking part. The rules and requirements are therefore set for each particular group.
Different groups for different work
A closed group
In a closed group the participants begin and go through the process together. After the start, new people usually do not join. The steady membership lets trust, familiarity and depth build gradually.
This format is often used for deeper process work and for specialised therapy groups.
An open group
In an open group people can join or end their participation under rules set in advance. This allows a more flexible format that continues over time.
The open model can suit certain support groups, psychoeducational formats, or other regularly running groups.
What happens in the group
In a psychotherapy group participants work both with the themes they bring and with what arises between people in the group itself. That can be closeness and distance, trust, conflict, boundaries, the need for approval, taking up space, fear of rejection, or other familiar patterns.
The therapist or the facilitators hold the process and the frame of the group. No one has to speak an equal amount, and group work does not mean being made to disclose personal experience.
Before joining
For psychotherapy and specialised process groups there is usually a preliminary individual meeting or conversation with the facilitator. The purpose is to judge whether that particular group suits the person, and whether this is the right moment to take part.
Current and upcoming groups
There is no open intake for a new group at the moment. If you would like to hear when the next format is announced, you can register your interest.
Confidentiality
Participants undertake not to share outside the group any personal information or experience they have learned about other participants.
The particular rules on confidentiality, communication and participation are discussed before each group begins.
